What’s the fuss about coconut oil?

Is Coconut Oil really good for you? You know, as a child I had terrible eating habits and hated everything coconut. Today, I can’t get enough. I drink coconut water as well as cook with coconut oil and coconut flour.  So one of my top healing foods that may have guessed is, Raw Organic Coconut Oil.  Let me share a few reasons why.

Not all fats are bad. Coconut oil contains short term medium-chain saturated fatty acids making it a healthy form of saturated fat that our liver metabolises immediately, converting it to energy for brain and muscle function. It is rich in lauric acid, which is known for being Anti-Viral, Antibacterial and Anti-Fungal; and provides a natural shield against infection and body cell changes. Coconut Oil is one of the world’s best sources of medium-chain triglycerides and source of ketone bodies which studies have shown can benefit a host of crippling conditions.

That’s not all, the best part is, Coconut Oil has a high resistance to heat so does not convert to a trans-fat or oxidise. This means it’s one of the few oils that doesn’t become toxic when heated like other cooking oils. This makes Coconut Oil a healthy option when cooking.

Research has shown that Coconut Oil may be beneficial for:

  • preventing and treating of Alzheimer’s & Parkinson’s disease
  • treating Huntington’s disease
  • relieving symptoms of Allergies and Asthma
  • treating Lou Gehrig’s disease
  • treating Diabetes
  • treating drug resistant Epilepsy
  • promoting healthy hair, skin and nails
  • proper digestion, boosting metabolism and assisting with weight loss
  • preventing
  • relieving Kidney problems, stress, and the list goes on.

There are literally hundreds of uses for coconut oil. You can use it in food preparations, as a moisturiser and cleanser for skin, hair and nails, oil pulling therapy, make-up remover, diaper cream, treat athlete’s foot and cradle cap in babies. Please share some of you uses.

Not all Coconut Oils are made equal. Raw or Virgin Coconut Oil is unrefined, unbleached and not deodorised. This means it keeps its optimum nutritional value. So, remember to use Raw Organic Coconut Oil for all its beautiful nutritional benefits.

Great article and interesting read. I had no idea of all the health benefits. I use olive oil even for frying but will now switch to coconut oil. Thanks for the information.
